April 29th - EC District Conference and Celebration - 2 PM - Marion, Living Water UMC
District Conference will be held at Living Water UMC, 1155 Grand Ave, Marion IA. We will have a time of celebration, vision casting and business of the East Central District.

May 6th - Pre-Annual Conference Session - 3 PM - 4:30 PM - Marion, Living Water UMC
The Pre-Annual Conference Session will be held at Living Water UMC, 1155 Grand Ave, Marion IA. The focus of this gathering is the presentation and conversation about the upcoming Iowa Annual Conference.  All are welcome to attend; if you are attending Annual Conference, you should attend.

May 12-18th - The Iowa Licensing School will be May 12-18 at the Shalom Retreat Center in Dubuque. Additional information is posted on the Conference website at https://www.iaumc.org/iowalicensingschool. Go Preach, the prerequisite will be offered March 16-17 at the Conference Center. It is encouraged that those attending Licensing School would take that Go Preach Course as it will be taught in the perspective that the individuals will be preaching every week and will allow them to connect with others that will be attending Licensing School. There is a printable registration form or a link to an online registration on the Licensing School website.

Saturday, April 21 – Climate Justice Workshop – Cedar Rapids St. Paul’s UMC – 9:00 – 2:30

“Faith Climate Action Week” happens the week before Earth Day, Sunday, April 22. Learn more by attending our St. Paul’s Climate Justice Workshop on Saturday, April 21. Rev. Dick Clark from Des Moines will offer information and suggestions for ways we can help reverse the devastating effects of climate change around our world. Pre-registration is appreciated by signing up at the Connection Centers or calling the church office – 319-363-2058. The day’s schedule:  9:00 coffee/ 9:30 morning session/ 11:30 lunch/ 12:15 -2:30 afternoon session. Join us for the full day if possible – half the day if that works better for you. Plan on lunch either way. (free will offering)

All East Central District United Methodist Women and friends are invited for a fun day of pampering and renewing. Enjoy nail polishing, hand scrubs, coloring pages, jigsaw puzzles, line dancing, song fest, quilt tying, devotions, and a specially prepared spring luncheon. $10.00 payable at the door. Wednesday, May 9 - Women Clergy Spiritual Spa Day – Lisbon UMC – 9:30 – 2:00

Did you know we have 50 women clergy in the East Central District?! Join your spiritual sisters in a day planned for renewal of your body and spirit. Some of your colleagues trained in Spiritual Direction will lead you through the session you select for the day.  The following activities are planned:

  • Coffee and Tea Bar
  • Salad Luncheon
  • Make Your Soul’s Story Collage
  • Paint a Finger Labyrinth
  • Prayer Room
  • Take a Soul Walk with a Soul Sister or By Yourself
  • Clergy only Sharing & Reflection Time
  • Lay women only Sharing & Reflection Time

“Climate change is related to our food choices. At every meal we can make a real difference that ensures a more climate-friendly food system.”
