February 22 - Deadline to Register for Discipleship Pathways Retreat
The Office of Congregational Excellence is offering a day-long retreat for local churches throughout the Iowa Annual Conference who are interested in learning the elements of a Discipleship Pathway process and how to begin the first steps of creating a pathway for your local church.
This retreat will be held at Ankeny First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut, Ankeny, on Saturday, March 2 at 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Click here to  READ MORE and to register.

March 10 - Post General Conference Debriefing Sessions with Bishop Laurie
Bishop Laurie will be present at three locations around the conference to debrief and answer questions about the 2019 General Conference. At least one of the locations will be live-streamed. Laity and clergy are encouraged to attend whichever session is most convenient for you.

  • Saturday, March 16 - New Hope UMC, Des Moines - 1:30 - 3:00 PM

March 20 - "Single Board" model - Shueyville UMC - 1:30 - 5:30 PM
Creating Momentum Through Effective Leadership Structures with Jaye Johnson
Rev. Dr. Jaye Johnson, Director of Congregational Excellence, will present a training covering the "Single Board" model of leadership in a congregation. All are welcome to attend; no registration needed.

March 23 - Spiritual Growth Day Apart and 150th Birthday Party
All women of the East Central District (as well as interested clergy, men, youth & children) are invited to a special day of learning and celebration at Cedar Rapids, St. Paul's United Methodist Church (1340 34d Ave SE). Conference UMW President, Lynn Calvert, will lead discussion and activities from our current Spiritual Growth Study entitled "Embracing Wholeness: An Earth Perspective for Covenantal Living". And since March 23rd is THE DAY recognized as the birth-day of our predecessor Methodist Women's mission outreach organizations, we will have cake, balloons, and favors to help us honor 150 years of United Methodist Women in mission - Faith, Hope & Love in ACTION! Registration for this special event will begin at 9:00 AM with the study scheduled from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Pre-registration is helpful to Kate Buroker, Brokawkj@aol.com, 319-362-5285 (h) or 319-929-2109 (c). Just let her know how many will be coming in your car. Each carload is invited to bring one salad to share for our lunch together. Morning snacks, beverages, and desserts will be furnished. April 28 - District Conference and Pre-Annual Conference - Living Water UMC
District Conference will be from 2:30 - 4: 00 pm. If you are a chair of a district committee, please remember to submit a written report for the year 2018.
Pre-Annual Conference will be from 4:15 - 5:30 pm. All are welcome to attend. If you will be attending Annual Conference this year, please plan to attend. Information covering Annual Conference will be shared.
Living Water is located at 1155 Grand Ave, Marion.
May 16-24 - Iowa Licensing School - Shalom Retreat Center in Dubuque IA

Clergy and Laity Sessions on Friday evening, June 7.
Hotel registration is open. Please be sure to book your hotel room as soon as possible, as there are several events scheduled in Des Moines the same weekend as our conference.
